Reals and Rationals was founded in 2016 with a singular vision: to cultivate mathematical thinking that lasts a lifetime.

What is Mathematical Thinking?

Mathematics is the language of precise deductive reasoning. To speak this language fluently, a student must be able to:

Understand the Vocabulary: Grasp the core concepts, not just the formulas.
Abstract: Translate complex, real-world scenarios into mathematical terms.
Deduce: Apply logical, step-by-step reasoning to solve problems.

True mastery means having the confidence to construct original methods to solve unfamiliar problems, rather than simply relying on standard procedures for predetermined tasks.

Our Curriculum & Pedagogy

We don’t just teach techniques; we teach the structure of the discipline. Our approach is built on two pillars:

Conceptual Depth: Our curriculum highlights the inter-relationships between concepts and their real-world relevance.
Active Expression: Our pedagogy encourages students to articulate their logic, ensuring they understand the “why” behind every step of the process.

Since 2016, we have successfully guided middle-school, high-school, and university students toward a more analytical, confident approach to mathematics.

Besides content related to our teaching, our website hosts a blog and a collection of our own hand-crafted challenge problems.

Leadership

Reals and Rationals was founded and is directed by Sandeep Yaddula. Sandeep has a master’s degree in Mathematics from University of Maryland. Sandeep also has a master’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, which he used for over 20 years in various engineering roles, prior to focusing full-time on Reals and Rationals.
